Nails On Point
Hi everyone, it has definitely been far too long since my last blog post. Over the last 5 weeks I’ve been trying out a new healthy eating and fitness regime and I’m still trying to get the balance right between prepping food in advance – if I prepped enough I wouldn’t need to spend as much time in the week cooking – and making sure I fit in my HIIT exercises. Sooo, enough about eating and exercise for now, let’s talk NAILS.
This is how I’ve been painting my nails over the last few weeks – yes I loved them too much! I was inspired by the May 2016 issue of ELLE magazine (page 236) showing gorgeous nude nails with an added blue twist to traditional french nails. This cleverly gives an illusion of pointy nails that I absolutely love, it’s such a good idea I hadn’t thought of doing before.
For this look I used OPI in ‘Bubble Bath’ for the nude base and Essie ‘After School Boy Blazer’ for the navy tips. I filed my nails into an oval(ish) shape, then used a thin nail brush from a cheap set I’d bought from Ebay to draw the tips. It was easier to do than I thought, although does take some time and precision in making sure all the tips look the same, but that’s just my OCD! There is probably an easier way to do it with stencils, let me know if you’ve tried it out and if there are any you can recommend? The last step I used was my favourite top coat by Seche Vite which speeds up drying time and gives a really glossy finish. If you try this out I’d love you to tag me in your pictures – Instagram @The_Style_Raid or Twitter @TheStyleRaid.
